This game was made starting with the tutorial by Jonathan Parsons on ASGamer.com. The tutorial, "AS3 Flash Games for Beginners", is a nine part series that handles all the basics needed to make a playable 2d shooter in Flash AS3. Here is a link to the first part of the series.
